INK & IRON PINETOWN 2011

When the Natalians told us to bring the show down to them as they wouldn’t disappoint us, man, they weren’t joking.  Holding the Ink & Iron for the first time in Durban was an unknown, but even before the gates opened at 10am, they started rolling in.  The support from the biking, tattoo and local community in Natal was outstanding and blew the Cape Town show last October out of the water.

Our choice of venue was John & Colleen Mc Manus’ ever popular VMAC’s Roadhouse in Pinetown and as far as we’re concerned, as well as a whole lotta locals – a wise choice.  For live entertainment, we had the Rock Band “Gypsy” who went down really well, next was “Elvis” a well known impersonator who has performed in Europe and America and if I didn’t know better,  would’ve thought the old guy had been resurrected and judging by the crowd’s response, they thought so too!

We had support from up-country with Joe Perreira – The Legend – who brought a few of the Satan Saints M.C. down with him , well more than just a few, as they walked off with the Biggest Club Trophy again!!! (Hey, what happened Thumpers?  Heard you’re 100-plus, shouldn’t the biggest Club Trophy stay in Natal?) – Let’s see next year!  Thanks for the support guys!

Steve Moller from the MAC’s M.C. brought down the Suzuki B King to scoop the Best On Show in the Concours – an awesome machine that also walked away with Best on Show the previous weekend at the 1000 Bike Show in Germiston.

The Tattoo fraternity really supported well with 7 studios setting up and laying down Ink virtually non-stop the whole day.  Lynne, from ‘Step Up to Ink Up’ won Best Female Tattoo Artist and Mulley from ‘Electric Eye’ Best Male, congrats to you both and to all the other winners in the 16 different categories, some fantastic work on display that can stand up to any of our tattoo art country-wide.

The quality of the Bikes, Rods and Tattooed people that came out and partied at the 1st Ink & Iron Natal was really un**believable and to each and everyone who came – a huge thank you for your support.   The Ink & Iron Crew enjoyed the vibe at this show immensely and we’re looking forward to partying with you again next year, same time – same place…. You Natalians Rock Man!!
